A proper good sportive
A fabulous day out.
The course appeared to be 2km short. Needed to fit in a small loop to hit 100km.
Well organised, great route, lovely people all round
There seemed to have been a bit of confusion about the actual route and the gpx files that were provided in advance. It was well sign-posted but would have been good to have the correct file.
Best organised sportive - love the route and the different food stops, friendly vibe. Should get the pros to ride it!!!
Challenging but fun
More climbing than I was expecting.
Carrs pasties were very welcome
Brutal, 10/10 would do again
Every member of staff and people in the booths were so lovely. The Saddleworth feed station had such a lovely atmosphere. Will be recommending to friends.
... before the Bank Holiday!
Please could extra marshals be put out on the course as both at the time and afterwards hearing from friends who did it too at a different time, there were several points where people felt they might be going the wrong way. It would be an added layer of assurance ie not long after the Saddleworth stop, for instance. Apart from this, cheers for yet another top day.
'ard but fun.
Amazing event always enjoy it!
The medals seem to be poorer quality each year. Maybe also need to be different for different distances
Very well organised great stops
Only on start people lots of people got mixed up on the very first left & right from traffic lights need to be more clear in the start with the signs other that very good
Great day out
I have 2 points to feed back cafe stops and cyclist behaviour
1. The stop at Poynton was great. lots of food ,nice ladies toilets. Very efficient and friendly
2.Hare and Hounds stop. Told by the woman giving out snacks we could only have one thing as they were running out!
3. Saddleworth Hotel stop. Ladies great but ran out of milk for the drinks and out of cake.
Didn’t stop at Marl Pitts.
I think there needs to be clear guidance as to how much cyclists will eat/drink on an event like this.
2. Cyclist behaviour.
There were quite a few incidences of clueless and downright dangerous behaviour by mostly young male cyclists. I personally had someone under take me on a corner without a word. Another one overtook and pulled right in front of me. I saw several people just stopping without a word.
Some cyclists were descending far too fast on very potholes roads).
A group of cyclist stopped on a bend on a hill to watch one of there group mend a puncture.
Just no common sense and a danger to other cyclists and cars. No wonder people get fed up with cyclists.
The majority of cyclists were fine but I wonder if some cycling dos and don’t should be emailed or it should be covered at the briefing?
I really enjoyed the day but was ashamed of a small number of my fellow cyclists.
We cycled past two accidents which isn’t surprising
Good challenge with plenty of long hills
Tough ride would have felt safer with a rider number on our backs as we felt a lot of traffic wasn’t aware there was a cycle event on today
Nowhere to write our ICA info thought we were receiving another number on the day when we registered
the camaraderie from fellow cyclists was really good today the staff/volunteersaround the route and at the beginning and end and feed stops were brilliant and catered well for a gluten intolerance thank you we have enjoyed our day
Best all inclusive sportive
Great well organised but did it at a slower pace today with my daughter who had said most of the food has always ran out by the time she gets to the stops. As I'm sure there is always plenty of food for everyone there needs to be a way of stopping the faster riders taking more than their share.
Thanks for organising and hopefully you raised lots of money for your charities
Room for improvement
The pre race organisation was brilliant. However, on the day it was slow to start, the feed stations were of variable quality and the riding left a fair bit to be desired in places. Unfortunately rude ignorant drivers hindered the experience, which I appreciate is outside of the organiser's control, but potentially different roads would help this. Nice finishing pack at the end.
A good route that’s fairly well planned. Organisation is good. Food is a bit lacking.
The route is good, it usually gets tweaked every year for a bit of variety, which is good. Well organised with plenty of loos, water taps and bike racks.
I rarely do sportives, but I do this one because the food is usually really good and plenty of it, however this year the food wasn’t at its usual standard and it was actively being rationed. I ended up getting really hungry and leaving the route to go and find a shop for more food.
I understand this is for charity and the less is spent on food the more goes to the charities, but if it’s not a good overall experience then people won’t turn up.
Probably won’t bother with this one again.
Some nice roads but too many dull ones
Very challenging, but had a great time
Be doing it again next year
The best organised sportive
Thanks to all the volunteers for taking time out of their weekend to help support and run a fantastic event!!
Amazing event
My first cycle event. It was hard work but I had a great time. I will definitely do it again.
A very challenging event for recreational riders
The condition of the roads is pretty atrocious in some places. I've done this event 3 times now over the last 4 years. Potholes in many sections are still there and in a worse state. The behaviour of car drivers was pretty poor as well - some near misses due to bad behaviour - while it's not a closed road event there should be a police presence to keep drivers in check. Marshalls were very friendly and helpful. The stalls at the end of the race were fantastic.
