Camraderie and togetherness
Year two and an increase in distance and another fabulous experience. Nothing to fault or dislike about the TDM. Looking forward to next year and encouraging more support from my colleagues and friends.
Excellent organisation
Well done to all the people involved for organising a great event. Thank you
Great event with great organisation
Excellent way to spend the day
It was very well organised. I was expecting more greenery, not such an urban setting. Definitely not easy for beginners.
It was a charity event, so all good and for a good cause.
Fantasticly organised event.
It’s not for the faint-hearted, some tough climbs in there, good preparation is needed.
Very hilly
I’m not sure if drivers in the area were warned about the event . Generally they were good but some got too close
See you in 2026!!
Tough climb sportive around a city!
Hard hills, brilliant atmosphere
Feed station 3 (96kms) on the classic route was far too long to wait to receive some proper food. It should have been at Werneth Low (feed station 3) as we started at 7 am.
Average
Not enough food choices for slower riders , at the times they reach the stops, slow process of scanning qr codes at start of event
Amazing Sportive, really well organised and buzzing atmosphere
Nope, was a perfect day out
Another great TdM
Consider keeping the 8am start time for the Manc Challenge. Felt rushed towards the end and had little time at the finish as there was a rush to get cars out of the car park. Clearly the car park was still half full when I left.
A couple of points in the route wasn't sign posted. Some other riders had to stop to choose between 3 roads and luckily I had the GPX route.
Tough day but a great ride out for sure! I did the classic, lots of ups and downs, more ups than downs. Hard in parts, but my fitness leevsl weren;t where they needed to be to attack this properly! I'll be back for more next year
Excellent route, brilliant route signposting, over-bureaucratic general organisation
1) car-parking over complicated (marshalling system causing delays & jam on main road), then quadruple parking meant I couldn't get my car out after finishing ....)
2) having to scan a QR code at the start after pre-registering & receiving a starter pack just slows everything down - no need, other sportives don't do it
3) feed stations ok but not great; one of the later stations had no 'sweet' energy products - when on the 'Mad Manc' route there was still 50km to go
4) there don't appear to be any links to times or rider-specific photos on the website the following day
5) Route signposting was probably the best I've ever seen - whoever was in charge of that is clearly a cyclist !
Well organised event the volunteers are amazing, well sign posted and great atmosphere - have done the Mad Manc 3 times and it definitely is not for beginners but shorter routes should cater for all abilities
Only reason I selected maybe for friendly to beginners is due to the Mad Manc being very full on with climbing
Best and Hardest Sportive ever!
It missed supporters on the route. I wonder if it was advertised more it would help?
Thank you to all the volunteers!
Sometimes hazardous
Sportive it's self was good. The route had a high volume of traffic for a Sunday and sometimes felt a bit dangerous. Some signs seemed to be missing around Rochdale as a few of us had to stop and try to figure out which way to go. ( Council issue), some road surfaces were really bad. But the views were spectacular and food stops and staff were great. Well organized
Tough but enjoyable day out on bikes.
Please keep the new 100k route or variant thereof - it makes so much sense to get straight into the hills and balance the climbing over the whole ride as opposed to loading it all into the second half of the ride like the other option used to.
Also, although there were likely logistical reasons at play, but it would be much better if the Saddleworth Hotel stop could open sooner as a lot of riders arrived early and missed out on pasties! Asking us to start no earlier than 9 would have meant a late finish so a lot started earlier and risked the pit stop being closed. Other than that, as ever a brilliantly organised and enjoyable day out on bikes. See you again next year!
