Tough
Really well organised ride ,with some brutal climbing, Amazing scenery and great riders. Reason for saying No to friendly to beginners is their's nothing friendly about the the Mad Manc route
Well organised and great route ( classic manc)
Hills are a killer
Whilst I had done some riding before, I and a few others found the hills a real challenge and perhaps it was a bit much for beginners to handle.
Gem of a sportive, well organised, great event
Top day, cannot wait for next year, thank you to all
Excellent in every way
I left feedback last year about the lack of savoury food - it was all cake until 10 miles from the end! You addressed that this year, it is much appreciated.
A tough challenge for a complete beginner, but doable
The road signs were a bit on the small side and there weren't enough so I kept thinking I was lost until I spotted one! There were a few people who went down the wrong turns and lost time having to double back.
Tough yet manageable
The road surface and scenery towards the back end of the ride is poor especially around the Rochdale area. Would be better if the route avoided it.
A significant challenge - the mad route must be one of the most difficult 1-day cycling challenges in the UK - in any cycling discipline.
This was my second year of riding the TDM and I entered the for the mad route.
Very disappointed that the car-parking was so congested - and I was very slow to get parked - hence starting 40 minutes later than I'd hoped for. - Better marshaling - or more overflow parking available near by might be a solution.
On the same theme, the final "cut-off" of 6-30pm before the car-park closes and cars are locked in - potentially for a couple of days is a major issue - and puts riders under considerable time pressure. I had to divert from the mad to the classic because of this. - I could have completed the mad - but it would have taken 12 hours (including stops) - which I don't think is an unreasonable time for the finish gate to have stayed manned.
More porta-bogs at the start and rest stations would have been helpful.
Adequate hot drinks at every feed stop would have been welcome. By the time I'd arrived one feed stop had run out of sugar - the next had run out of milk.
Exceptionally good points are great on-course marshaling - and motor-cycle marshals- friendly and efficient - and warning of hazards very helpful. Great route signage all the way round.
Will I be back next year you bet ! - And many thanks.
Well-organised, friendly atmosphere
Well-organised sportive and a great atmosphere. Everybody was extremely friendly and it was an enjoyable day out. I've ridden my bike in nicer locations than Manchester, but I can't fault the event itself. Many thanks to all those involved.
Good sportive, northern section a bit depressing.
I enjoyed the Mad Manc this year having previously done it in 2021.
I dohowever have a few comments. I set off at as close to 7am as I could and only just got back at 1820. I wouldn't say I'm a slow rider but all the tables at the finish were being packed away. I think you could start the mad manc at say 6am to give some more time, ididnt stop at Poynton food stop and only stopped briefly at Saddleworth and the one afterwards...
I think the Northern section from Hollingworth lake over to Rosendale was a bit on the bleak side and I know the loop that you added near Ramsbottom was only to get the distance in,but this just felt pointless.
All in all a well organised event, but the time doesn't seem to be long enough..
Good event however route not as good as previous years
It was more tour de north than tour de manc. Much preferred last year's manc challenge for visiting different areas of Manchester. Food stops were better spread out last year. Marl pitts to woodhey was too close
Loved it and will be back next year to ride the same route again...
Not from me, a well organised event and will be back next year to do it again!!
Good sportive lots of hills , couple of aigns missing which made us do a detour and could do with marshalls too.
Tough hills, great event.
Station 2 was too far from station 1. We reached it after 1pm to find out every short route had cleared the food leaving hungry longer/slower riders. Not enough crossovers with the short routes either so there was a lack of atmosphere, last year at the reservoir there were loads of us. Enjoyed myself though
Good vibes, not great food stops
Timing was tight for a 200km hilly route
Fantastic, as ever
Nice changes to the Mad Manc route,
A fun Sportive to participate in
The course marking was excellent did not need a GPX and a bike computer to navigate which was fortunate as some areas it went wrong
Blinkin fantastic day out with a cracking organisation/ volunteer team
Perfect
I had the best day on a bike in a v long time
It all ran so smoothly, I’m not really sure I can offer any recommendations - it was just perfect. Thank you!
Very positive experience
Delays to parking and insufficient toilets at start.
Would have liked savoury options at early feeds.
Otherwise great.
Enjoyed the day ,friendly marshall's and good food stations
